I’ve been using this Flowtron bug zapper for a few years now on my backyard and it does a great job, granted it’s not an acre.

The Flowtron BK-40D Electronic Insect Killer measures approximately 10″ x 10″ x 17″ and uses 40W to power the electric grid that surrounds the black light.

Best use on the Flowtron Insect Killer

I’ve noticed that hangin the Flowtron BK-40D Electronic Insect Killer on a holder which can give it as close to 360 degree view would be best. Run a heavy duty extension and keep it about 20-30 feet from the area you want bugs zapped. Remember that the killed mosquitos and bugs will be dropping on the ground beneath.

Some people will place these too close to the house, but I think this will just attract the bugs closer to the house, you’ll constantly hear the zapping noise and then have all the dead insects on the ground which will attract ants.

If you just keep this on year round, you will reduce the overall mosquito and bug cycles and notice that there will be less of those pesky bugs. Here in Florida we have mosquitos and other bugs almost year round, in some other places maybe just turning it on in early spring would work.

Clog Free Flowtron BK-40D Insect Killer

Not exactly, but since the unit has an open bottom most insects will crash and burn and then fall to the ground. The mosquito and insects that stay stuck on the electric grid will most likely be removed by birds and ants.

The first few days there will most likely be a heavier accumulation of insects on the electrified grid, as birds and others find this source of food, they will help keep the grid clean. You could use some compressed air to remove the ones that stay stuck. If you are going to use a garden hose, remover to unplug…

Closing out this Flowtron BK-40D review

It works fine, the 40D is in my opinion the better option, and for some reason it an Amazon best seller. Remember that the dead insects have to go some where, put it in the right area, and it’s not completely clog free. Very well worth the price.
