The Seresto flea and tick collar for dogs provides continuous 8 month flea and tick protection. Unlike oral flea and tick prevention products that require a bite, the Seresto dog collar repels fleas and ticks and kills through contact; no biting required. Frontline flea and tick treatment does not repel (based on label claims). Seresto dog flea collars contain active ingredients imidacloprid and flumethrin, which are slowly and continuously released in low concentrations, spreading from head to toes, even the tail, over your dog’s coat and skin. Seresto flea collar for dogs is water resistant and remains effective after shampooing, swimming or exposure to rain or sunlight. (Dogs must not be bathed more than once per month. For dogs that swim once a month or more, the control duration is reduced to five months for flea control, and reduced to seven months for tick control.) This vet recommended flea and tick collar for dogs is odorless, non greasy and easy to apply. It can be used alongside other identification or restraining collars without damaging them. Review of the Seresto Flea and Tick Collar for Dogs
Seresto makes the claim of “Seresto collar for dogs provides 8 months of continuous flea and tick prevention” but that was not my experience. Here is my personal review of the Bayer Animal Health Seresto Flea and Tick Collar for Dogs.
We have a large Weimaraner and he started to get a few ticks here and there. He’s our baby, so we check him all the time and give him showers about every two weeks. We think the dog next dog has fleas and ticks, so we think that is where they are coming from. We also like to take him to the park and let him run in the woods once in a while.
I spray the yard and spread powder bug killer on the lawn, normally about once a month.
To get to the review of the Bayer Animal Health Seresto Flea and Tick Collar for Dogs, it just did not work what so ever. Our dog still got ticks. We called and spoke with Seresto, they said that their product is designed to stop the fleas and ticks from biting or staying on him.
For the price, just over $60, and all the positive reviews, were really hoping this would help prevent or kill the ticks. It just did not function as described. For the last month I’ve removed several engorged ticks from him that apparently bit and swelled over night. We’ve sprayed his bed, and thoroughly cleaned the area around his bed.
I am giving this review a 50 due to the amount of positive reviews the product actually has received from other users, approximately 17K reviews with an average of 4 out of 5 stars. My experience was just not as positive as I expected.
I haven’t tried the Frontline Plus Flea and Tick Treatment for Dogs but I’m going to give it a try and will publish my review and observations.
