Features, Details and Review of the Parrot Hydrofoil MiniDrone.

This is basically a mini drone on a hydrofoil hull. This is how the manufacturer describes it: This hybrid MiniDrone uses propellers to cruise across fresh water at speeds of up to 6.2 mph. Built with streamlined foils and a hydrodynamic hull, Hydrofoil moves with amazing dexterity and agility, balancing 5-6cm above the water. When this MiniDrone takes flight, it can hit speeds of 11 mph.

When I first saw this drone and boat combination, I thought it was really a cool little gadget. I mean, a minidrone that powers a hydrofoil; who would not like that. Then I started doing a little more research and taking a better look.

The Minidrone is not really waterproof, if the hydrofoil flips you might fry the drone. The combination of the two would probably be very cool if it worked on water that wasn’t that flat and maybe had a good camera system, but it’s not really designed for anything other than flat fresh water, and it doesn’t come with a camera.

I also read a few people mention how the drone can go outside range, and keep going… No return to home feature if disconnected from the controller. Unfortunately, this is not a toy I will be adding to my collection.
