Size of the WD My Passport Portable External Hard Drive
The Western Digital My Passport size and weight varies with the hard drive capacity. All versions have the same 4.2 inch X 3-inch length and width. The 4TB and 5TB harddrives are 0.75 inch thick.
The 1TB and 2TB devices are a much slimmer at 0.44 inch thick.
WD My Passport Portable External Hard Drive Windows come formatted in the NTFS file system. The WD My Passport Mac versions come with HFS+. You can reformat.
Both Mac WD My Passport Portable External Hard Drive and Windows versions come with a USB-A-to-Micro-B cable, the Mac version adds a USB-C-to-Micro-B cable. The Mac version of this hard drive is priced a few dollar higher, as it adds the cable. If you already have the USB-C to Micro-B cable you can buy the PC version and reformat to HFS+.
Review of the WD My Passport Portable External Hard Drive
I’ve had one of these WD My Passport Portable External Hard Drive for a while now and have not had an problem with my data. Works fine on my Imac timemachine and provides easy access to my documents and images. I did have to reformat the hard drive when I first purchased. Since I don’t use it as a portable or moveable drive, I had not encountered any problems with damage, but I have heard of people damaging the drive from dropping it.
The Western Digital My Passport Portable External HardDrive is provide performance compatible with it’s competition, is very fairly priced, easy to use, and has good security features.
